Would anyone one the Allegany List give me an idea on how to research the names of 3 Carpenter sisters? My husbands great grandfather had three sisters whose given and married names I cannot find. Have any list members found ways to trace first names of children that appear (without name) on the early census? Or do any listers have a family member with "Carpenter" as a maiden name? I have found detailed accounts of all the male children in the family and the one daughter who died young, and is buried in Till The Day Dawns Cemetery.. This family came to Angelica, Allegany Co. from Elmira, NY in 1814. They lived in the village of Angelica until 1819, then bought another farm in 1819 in what is now West Almond, close to Birdsall. Two of the daughters were b (according to the 1800 and 1819 census,) between 1795 & 1799. One daughter between 1810 & 1814. There were four brothers and four sisters in the family. I would imagine the daughters most likely married in Allegany Co. as two of them were no longer listed in the family in 1820, the third daughter was no longer listed in the 1830 census. This is the family: Father: Richard Carpenter b. 1771 or 72 Mother: Mehitable b. ? (between 1774-1778) 1st Dau. b. 1795-1799 2nd. Dau b. 1795-1799 Son: Willaim Smith Carpenter b. 1800 d. 1865 Son: Samuel Allan Carpenter b. 1802 d. 1873 Son: Richard Ellison Carpenter b. 1804 d. 1868 Son: David Howell Carpenter b. 1806 d. 1869 Dau. Margaret b. 1807 d. 1809 Dau ? b. 1810-15 All the sons are buried in Allegany Co. Thank you for any ideas. Dawn http://ourfamilyjournal.homestead.com Carpenter/Davies and Related Families
