My great grandmother's maiden name was Wixson. She was the daughter of Jonathan Taylor and Alice Bassett Wixson. The Wixsons were from NY but originated in MA. I have a George Wixson from 1809 in Dutchess Co. Ny he was married to Lois Emily Taylor b. 1809 in NY, they had a daughter Emily born 1848 who later married into the Osincup family, does this ring a bell??
