She was born on Jan. 16th, 1865 in the village of Bergen and spent the greater part of her childhood in Batavia. When seventeen years of age she moved to this locality and on August 5, 1885 was joined in marriage to Willard H. PHINNEY. During the fifty-four years, from that time until the present, they have lived in the same house, making it through all this time a home of hospitality to all. Eleanor PHINNEY was first of all a home-maker, a wife and a mother, lending a charm to her welcome that her friends cannot forget. At about the age of fifteen she united with the Baptist Church of Batavia. She was a member of the O. E. S., Chapter 630, and, as long as her health permitted, took an active interest in its proceedings. She is survived by her husband, one son, Edward Everett, and two granddaughters, Eleanor Jean and Elaine Marjorie, also two nephews, DeMars and DeForrest BEZANT, of Rochester. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Short Tract M. E. Church, Rev. F. M. POLAND, pastor, officiating. Burial was made in the Short Tract Cemetery.
