Later in life he became a resident of the village of Hume where his home was located at the time of his death, which occurred Sunday morning. On October 20, 1891 he was married to Ellen EVANS who was taken by death on July 9, 1905 after fourteen years of married life. To them were born two children, Howard and Bernice, who are left to mourn the loss of their father. On September 1, 1909, Mr. STICKLE was married to Lucy KEYES, who also remains to mourn the loss of her husband. For 29 years Mr. STICKLE was a mail carrier from the Fillmore office. In 1935 he retired from active service in this official position. Many others will mourn the loss of this friend with his kindly and congenial sympathy, spirit and interest. The loss will be great. As a family man he was a kind father and an affectionate husband. The call of his creator came early on the morning of Sept. 17, 1939. Truly it hath been said "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord." [Northern Allegany Observer obituary, transcribed by Louise Y. Mills, 2003, from Cora Lahr's scrapbooks, Fillmore, NY]
