    3. Hello: My step grandmother, Alice Clair, was born in 1870 in Alfred, NY. According to here obituary and her marriage license her father was Lee Clair and her mother was Mary Davis. In 1880 in Alfred there was a Mary Clair, head of household, living with her parents, who were Davises. The children, which should have been Clairs, are listed as Davis. Alice married a Herbert Davis, I believe to be a cousin, and had three children. She evidently left the children with her in laws, not sure why and had a son by Homer Burdick. She married my grandfather in 1906 in Wellsville. Am interested as to where she was in 1905, (I have other censuses). What happened to her father, Lee Clar. What happened to her husband Herbert Davis. and Were the two of them cousins? In the 1930 census her two sons Everett and Leon Davis were both heads of households in Alfred. Any help or ideas would be most be appreciated. Paul R.L. Vance
