Dorothy BAKER was born in the Mountain Clinic in Olean, Nov. 14, 1925. Since that time she has lived with her family on the McNAMARA homestead on Crawford Creek. Dorothy first attended school on Crawford Creek and later entered the Belfast Central School where she was an honor pupil in the eighth grade. She was always conscientious and dependable. A sweet, lovable little girl who will be greatly missed by her family, the members of the faculty and the student body with whom she was associated. She has left to mourn their loss, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde BAKER a younger sister, Joan and a brother John; also two uncles, Chas. McNAMARA of Crawford Creek, and Arthur McNAMARA of Belfast. Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Church, Thursday morning at nine o'clock. Rev. F.P. RYAN sang the Requiem Mass. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Dottie has gone to live where "always their angels do behold the face of our Father." One moment "standing with reluctant feet where the brook and river meet," the next leaving father and mother and Jackie and Joan and traveling sweetly and fearlessly up the pathway which leads to eternal life. Dropping lessons and play, helping hand and loving ways, she has grown up suddenly into heavenly knowledge and peace. [Northern Allegany Observer obituary, transcribed by Louise Y. Mills, 2003, from Cora Lahr's scrapbooks, Fillmore, NY]
