    2. Charles R Monroe of Richburg N Y was one of the family of six children born to David S and Sarah Lewis Monroe at Alfred NY 14 Nov 1851 and entered peacefully into rest 10 Feb 1917 at the home of his daughter at Nile where kind and willing hands had cheerfully administered to his needs. He was united in marriage 8 March 1871 to Miss Flora L Babcock of Pitcher,NY and to this union was born four children,Jesse R, of Alfred, Lena S Finch of Nile, Charles Irvin of Friendship NY Clifford E of Olean NY of whom all were present at the funeral service conducted at the home of his daughter by Rev G P Kenyon of Richburg. He was again married 21 Jan 1912 to Mrs Nancy Amesbury who survives him. He left 2 sisters Mrs Izora P Crandell of Fillmore and Mrs Angelia W White of Detroit Michigan who has been with him and assisted largely in caring for him during the past few weeks also a foster sister Mrs Alta M Gabriel of Watkins NY besides his 4 children and 9 grandchildren. Hw with his wife united with the Second Alfred S.D.B. Church in 1871 during the meetings conducted by Elder L R Swinney and has since looked to the Bible for comfort. He was a kind ambitious man and did faithfully and well what his hands found to do.Burial was made at Bolivar beside his wife who passed from this life 20 Aug 1909. Among those in attendence at the funeral services were Mr and Mrs A.B. Mix LF and A E Monroe of Bolivar W O Saunders and Dorr Brokaw of Richburg Mrs Leslie Young of Rochester, Mrs Herbert Freeman of Wellsville,Charles Saunders Mrs Prudence Miller and M J Archibald of Friendship and Mrs W A White of Detroit Michigan.
