OLMSTEAD Edwin A. OLMSTEAD, 58, of Trianna Street, Belmont, died in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, Tuesday, December 17, 1968, following a lingering illness. Mr. OLMSTEAD served from 1955 to 1963 as deputy County Coordinator for Communications, operating the fire and emergency radio system (mutual aid) from his residence. He was succeeded in July, 1963, by George H. MICKLE, who operates the mutual aid radio with his wife from their Andover residence. The radio serves the 2,200 volunteer firemen organized in Allegany county's 28 fire departments. Mr. OLMSTEAD was born March 1, 1910, in Friendship, a son of Raymond and Lena ADAMS OLMSTEAD. On September 1, 1934, he married the former Edith M. LEWIS, who survives. In addition to his widow and mother of Belmont, he is survived by two daughters; MRS. Robert (Patricia) SCOTT, of Watertown, and Mrs. Stewart (Sonya) MILLS of Wellsville; five grandchildren; a brother, Norman OLMSTEAD of Mexico, New York, and a sister, Mrs. Alfred (Ruth) TUCKER of Belmont. Mr. OLMSTEAD was a graduate of Racket Lake High School; and Wanakena State Ranger School; and had lived for the past several years in Belmont. He was a member of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs; the Belmont United Methodist Church; the Belmont Lodge 474, F. and A. M.; the Corning Consistory Scottish Rites; a life member of the Allegany Firemen's Association; Belmont Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Past District Officer; and the Allegany County Bird Club. Friends may call at the Embser Funeral Home in Belmont today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there Friday, December 20, 1968, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. Fay CLEVELAND, minister of the United Methodist Church of Belmont, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery at Belmont.
