Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BUB.2ACI/6149 Message Board Post: HANNAH BOSS DOREY Hannah Ophelia DOREY was born June 25, 1857 in the Town of Allen, daughter of Stephen and Mary BOSS and passed away May 31, 1940 at the home of her son, Winfred, after an illness of over three years. During this time she was very patiently cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Lina GOWDY. She was very active in her earlier life in community work, being a charter member of the Women's Relief Corps, a member of the Methodist Church and served as chaplain of Granger Grange for several years. She was married to Albert H. DOREY, who served in the Civil War in the 184th Regiment, on June 25, 1873. To this union were born four children; Geo. L. DOREY of Mt. Morris, Lina V. GOWDY, formerly of Baltimore, Winfred, and Mrs. Fern BENNETT of Short Tract, all of whom survive, also a brother, Edson BOSS, Dalton, together with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church, Short Tract on June 2, 1940, with the Rev. POLAND officiating. She was laid to rest in the family plot in the Short Tract Cemetery.
