When, I first began researching years ago, a cousin told me that we were related to the Jackson family living in Portage, NY. Over the years Portage has been in both Allegany and now Livingston County. I haave a Matthias J Jackson, Sr. who may have died around 1830 in Portage, with a wife Polly and the follwing chidlren Miranda Jackson who may have married a Pascal Cody/Cady and the following sons Matthias J, William, Daniel and Leonard. There was a CODY family in Portageville in the 1940s. Mary Cody was the grandm,other of one of my cousins if I remember correctly. Portageville is in the town of Genesee Falls, Wyoming County. Just across the river from the town of Portge.
