    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Spicer / Coats / Wilcox Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BUB.2ACI/6142.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I have found also a reference where Tacy might have been Lucy. I found this in the FULL CONTEXT OF CONNECTICUT MARRIAGES to 1800 ----- Ambrose Coats of Stonington & Lucy Partelow, Oct. 2, 1791 I have always wondered if someone in 1791 had very bad penmanship and since Tacy is such a unique name simply translated "Tacy" into "Lucy" when using more modern techniques to translate this information. The information that I have on Sally came from Nancy Spicer Trice's "Descendants of Peter Spicer". She writes the following about Shubal Spicer: He married 28 Feb 1813, Sally, d/o Ambrose and Tacy (Partello) Coats. She (Sally) was born 20 Jan 1792 in Groton, Ct. She died 6 Jul 1856 in Port Hope, Wis. Her parents were among the early emigrants from Ct to Brookfield, NY and later into the forest of Alleghany Co, NY. They were of Scotch descent. The first manufacturer of the universally known "Coats' cotton" was a cousin of Mrs Spicer, and used often to visit at her house when traveling through the country in his one-horse rig introducing his thread. Sally & Shubal had nine children. If you want any information on those children, please let me know.
