They probably would have bought it from the Holland Land Company. Does anybody know any thing about that family? Or ___ Phillips could possibly have had another given name. We're aware of a Hannah Phillips from Cattaraugus County some where during that time possibly, whose maiden name might have been Cleveland. She lived between 1765-1861 and is buried in the Johnsonburg Cemetery in Wyoming County, but we cannot find her husband or who he was though we're wondering if it was William or Levi. Hannah was the mother of Betsy (Phillips) Bump, who was married to Joseph Bump and lived near Sheldon in Wyoming County. Any census looker uppers around for the New York State Census or the Federal Censuses that might apply? I'm in the midwest, though we lived in WNY for 18 years until three years ago. All of this just came to light within the last week, believe it or not. Thanks. Betsy Phillips
