LAHR Max J. LAHR passed away at his home on upper Main Street, Hume, October 19, 1951, at the age of 88 years, five months and five days, after an illness of a year. Mr. LAHR was born in Allegany, New York, May 14, 1863, one of seven children. He was the son of Henrietta LANGOEHR, of Torgau, Prussia and George LAHR, of Alsace Lorraine. Mr. LAHR was married to Addie E. VOORHEES of Cuba, New York, January 3, 1885. He came to Hume, New York, in 1883 and worked for Henry BROWN. With the exception of two years in Cuba and six months in Friendship, he lived in this vicinity 68 years. Mr. LAHR went in business for himself on Main Street, in 1893 and since then has served as Postmaster 12 years. Funeral services were held at the home on Main St., October 21, with the Rev. Mae SHAFFER officiating. Interment was at Cuba, New York. Mr. LAHR leaves two sons; Forest L. of Fillmore and Dr. John M. of Oyster Bay; one niece, Adalaide GESE of Buffalo, three nephews, Edward GESE of Buffalo, George LAHR of Ferndale, Michigan and Claude LAHR, address unknown and one grandson, Jack M.
