Funeral services for the late John Andrew McCARNS were held Monday morning at ten o'clock at St. Patrick's Church, Fillmore with Rev. Father Clair HODNETT officiating. His death occurred at his home Friday evening, Sept. 27, after a six months' illness. Son of Andrew and Margaret KILDAY McCARNS, he was born Aug. 8, 1873, and had been a life-long resident of this community. In 1902 he was united in marriage to Ellen HICKEY, who preceded him in death two years ago, Feb.15, 1944. Mr. MCCARNS is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Margaret DOLAN, at home; a son William, of Buffalo; two grandchildren, Eugenia and William McCARNS, Jr. of Buffalo; a brother, Frank McCARNS of Fillmore; two sisters, the Misses Mary and Ruth McCARNS of Buffalo. The pallbearers were, Harlan STRAHAN, Reid LILLY, Charles GLEASON, Harold BOTSFORD, Lynn GLEASON and William KINNEY. Interment was made in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fillmore. Those in attendance from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. William McCARNS and Miss Ruth McCARNS of Buffalo; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth BROWN, Delevan; Mr. and Mrs. Rodney WAYMAN, Silver Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Clair REESE, Olean; Mrs. Jessie VAN NAME, Miss Dorothy VAN NAME and Robert VAN NAME of Arkport; Mr. and Mrs. Robert LEWIS, Barnsville, Ohio.
