His military gravestone reads: "Milo Alford Co. A. 2nd WI. Inf." 1890 Vet's Cens. reports he had a Left side wound. Chronic diarrhea & residual disease of abdominal viscers. $6.00 pens. In 1888: he owned a washing machine manuf. co. in Sumner. Mar: Ladorna C. (Glover): 13 Apr. 1836-24 Dec. 1922. 'Mother'. Her 2nd husb. was James B. Miles, bur. by her. Bur: Lakeview.Milo married six times. 1st Mar: 25 March 1838, Rockport Twp., Cuyahoga Cty., OH., to Emily Lathrop: 29 Oct. 1806, New London Cty., CT.-22 May 1891, Oramel, Allegany Cty., NY. Their chdn, incl. one, name unk., who d. in infancy, were: Infant Dau.-b. Dec 1840-d. same month. Byron-b. 25 March 1842-1899, Eldred, PA. Charles B.-b. 15 Nov 1843. He served as a 1st Lt. in Co. F, 130th NY. Inf., afterwards known as the 1st NY. Dragoons, and was killed 29 Aug. 1864, Smithfield, VA. On March 17, 1865, Emily was granted a Mother's pens. based on his wartime service. DeWitt C.-b. 15 March 1846, Fettermans's Run near Union City, PA. In 1850, when Emily was suffering from ill health, Milo hired Jane Slater as a domestic to care for her. He and Jane immed. took to each other which caused trouble with his wife, who when her health improved, took the chdn. and moved to her father's place in Darien, NY. A yr. later Milo convinced her to take him back and the family moved to Fillmore, Allegany Cty., NY. 1856: they moved to Oramel, NY., and Jane Slater once more joined the family. 1856: Milo left his family and he and Jane moved to Portage, Columbia Cty., WI. There was never any formal divorce by either Milo or Emily, but articles of agreement were drawn up in which they agreed to have nothing further to do with each other. 2nd Mar: was apparently a common law one with the above mentioned Jane Slater, whose last name may have been Slack. They apparently separated and her whereabouts were never mentioned in his pens. file. 3rd Mar: 19 Feb. 1861, Portage, Columbia Cty., WI., to Eliza Colvert. He rec'd a divorce from her on 16 June 1871 in Sauk Cty., WI. 4th Mar:~1872 to Lovico Moore-d. 19 March 1884. 5th Mar: Apr. 1877 to Hannah Campbell with whom he lived a few wks, before they separated. It was learned that she hadn't gotten a divorce from her prior husb. who was still living. She later mar: Henry Dresden and she d. 12 March 1901. 6th and last Mar: 2 Nov. 1893, Sumner, Barron Cty., WI., to the widow, Mrs. Ladorna C. (Glover) Miles: 13 Apr. 1836, Birdsall, Allegany Cty., NY.-24 Dec. 1922, Sumner Twp., Barron Cty., WI. Bur: by her husb., Lake View Cem. The family plot contains a headstone inscribed "Wilson Miles Alford" in honor of the last names of Ladorna's three husbs. D/of Mr. And Mrs. Glover. Other gravestones in the plot read: "Father James B. Miles: Jan. 24, 1825–Dec. 22, 1883."; "Mother L.C. Alford Apr. 13, 1836–Dec. 24, 1922."; "Father Albert M. 1862–1932."; Mother Phiulena C. 1872–1950."; and "Daughter Myrtle 1898 – 1966." On 26 Jan. 1863, Milo filed Applic.#8,820 for an Invalid Vet's Pens., approved under Cert.#14,000. On 27 Oct. 1896, Ladorna C. Alford filed Applic.#642,377 for a Widow's Pens. No rec. at the Nat'l Archives that this applic. was approved or rejected. However, there is letter dated June 19, 1903 from the Law Division of the Bureau of Pensions, in which the Chief of that Division laid out all the various marriages of both Milo and Ladorna and determined that Milo had never been legally married to anyone except his first wife Emily, and that after her death, he was legally free to marry. Since his marriage to Ladorna occurred after Emily's death, Ladorna was legally regarded as his widow. Ladorna had been married twice prior to her marriage to Milo. Her 1st Mar: 5 May 1852, to Orren or Orin M. Wilson, by John O. Seroya, J.P., Waukesha, WI. Their known chdn were: Harriet M.-b. 17 Oct 1853. Samira E.-b. 3 July 1857. Alvah M.-b. 11 July 1861. Arthur A.-b. 17 July 1863. Orin M. Wilson was a C.W. soldier. He enl. 16 Feb. 1864, Waukesha, WI., to serve three yrs. as a Pvt. in the 28th WI. Inf. On 11 March 1864 he must. into Fed. service with Co. A at Madison, WI. At that time he rec'd $60.00 of his $300.00 Fed. enl. bounty and listed as 34 yrs. old, 5'7" tall farmer, br. hair, bl. eyes, lt. complexion b. Pomphret, NY. His enl. was credited to Brookfield, Waukasha Cty., WI. On 24 May 1864 Orin was assigned to Co. A by virtue of Special Order No 35, Hd. Qrs. 28th WI. Inf. On 8 Aug. 1864, he d. of chronic diarrhea while in hosp. at Pine Bluff, Ark. Ladorna's 2nd mar: 25 Dec. 1865, Sumner Twp., Barron Cty., WI. to James B. Miles: 24 Jan. 1825-22 Dec. 1883. Bur: Lake View Cem. They were the parents of six chdn., of whom three daus. d. in infancy. The other chdn., three boys, whose dates and place of birth are unk., were: Andy, Almon, Archie. 1890 U.S. Cens., Special Sched: Milo C. Alford listed as res. Sumner Twp., Barron Cty., WI., having served as a Pvt. in Co. G, 2nd WI. Inf., from 21 Apr. 1861-20 Dec. 1862; 1 yr., 7 mos., 20 days. Milo was a C.W. vet who enl. 26 Apr. 1861, Portage, Columbia Cty., WI., to serve three yrs. as a Pvt. in Co. G, 2nd WI. Inf. On 11 June 1861, he must. in with Co. G at Madison, WI., then listed as 43 yr. old, 5'10" tall carpenter, gray hair, gray eyes, dark complexion. 17 Sept. 1862, Milo was wounded in the left side of his chest near Sharpsburg, MD., during the battle of Antietem, and was hosp. at Baltimore, MD. 22 Nov. 1862, he rec'd a physical exam and was determined unable to perform duties of a soldier. He was considered 50% disabled and on 20 Dec. 1862, he was disch. under a Surgeon's Cert. Of Disability, at the U. S. Dey, who was married to Moses White (he left the area). Caty Ann is said to have died 1850 or so. Her parents are buried at Jersey Hill area, but Moses and Katherine appear in Granger in 1850 census.
