They were all born of Marks and Maria Anna Ganter. And, it seems that Othmar (Ottomar) was the one who stayed in Germany longer. Othmar is my great grandfather I just looked up Ottomar Gonter on Google, and found that he died 12/31/1891, buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, #26.1, Wellsville, NY. His wife was Mary Stortz. Their daughter, Emma Louise (Gonter) Green was my grandmother. I seems as if we are distantly related. If anyone has further information, please let me know. 2. Barbara
    3. Dear Carol, I, too am interested in the Morse family - perhaps it is the same one listed in the your post and I have little information on the Morse family. What I do know: Lucy Ann Morse b. abt 1828 perhaps in Leicester, Livingston Co., NY married Richard R. Robinson 11 Mar 1849 and she d. 7 Jun 1907. We are told they were first cousins. They were living in Caneadea, Allegany Co., in the 1960 census. Next door to them was a Timothy Morse age 73 and Philapeny (Phlefeny not sure of the spelling) age 70 with Charles age 28, Louise age 22 and Julia age 9. Perhaps her mother and father and her brother and sister? Might your Clarence and Lucy have been related? Lucy Morse Robinson also had a child named Ida, b about 1858. In 1850 Lucy and Richard were living in Mt. Morris. The 1875 census says she was born in Ontario County. The southern towns of Ontario county did become Livingston in the 1820's and are on the border of Allegany County. My Morse family is my brickwall. Barb HI Folks, Am looking for death and burial and other information on the following family: Abbie Cole, daughter of Eugene Cole and Ida Shaffer b. Aug 1877 Rushford, married Clarence Morse abt 1895. Clarence was born Oct 1869 Centerville, son of Carlson Morse and Sarah Farwell. They had the following children: Ida Morse b. Apr 1896 Rushford, married Olin Smith, Mildred Morse b. 28 Oct 1898 Rushford married Carl Norris, Glen Morse b. abt 1901, Oakley Morse b. 3 Jun 1903 d Jan 1978 Angelica, Frank Morse b. 13 Mar 1906 Rushford, died 10 May 1965 (suicide) married Clara Burdick, Agnes Morse b. abt 1911 married unknown Smith, Frederick Morse b. abt 1913. (In 1930, Ida, Agnes & Frederick were living with their grandparents in Angelica) I"m interested in info for death and burial locations for anyone in this family and descendants. Thank you! I have discovered that my great great grandmother, Lydia Makee (1845-1869), moved briefly with her parents and sisters to Wisconsin from Friendship, NY. I find a certificate of purchase of land at Stevens Point, WI by her father, John M. Makee, dated September 1, 1856. Lydia married Arthur M. Sheldon in Harris, WI in 1861 and then the entire family apparently moved back to Friendship, NY where Arthur joined the 136th NY Infantry which mustered at Portageville, NY in August of 1862. My great grandfather, Frank M. Sheldon, was born in Friendship in January of 1863. Two more sons were born after the war and then Lydia died and Arthur moved back to Wisconsin where he married Phoebe Parmenter, sister of his brother's wife. Arthur and Phoebe as well as his brother Henry H. Sheldon and sister Martha E. Sheldon Miller ended up living in Greenbush, WI. His two older sons appear in the 1870 and 1880 census in Friendship, NY living with their maternal grandparents, John M. and Mar! y Jane (Todd) Makee. The third son was apparently adopted by a Lathrop family and raised as Glenn S. Lathrop. An obituary for Frank M. Sheldon lists his brothers as Ned W. Sheldon and Glenn S. Lathrop. Here's the address: http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=29807&p=localities.ceeurope.germany.baden.general >From the search results that were posted, it looks like the Wellsville Gonters used to be Ganters in Germany. Since the German "a" sounds more like "ah" in English, the spelling change makes sense if the record taker was going based on sound rather than actual spelling--more than likely, all things considered. Just from the few results already posted, it looks like Ottomar and Mathias are brothers. I definitely intend to poke around the sites listed a bit more when I find some time.
