    1. [NYALLEGA] NOEL JONES Descendants..
    2. susi c pentico
    3. I am trying to locate any living NOEL JONES descendants, He was born in probably old Albany Co. area 1785 ish. He went to Utica with his son born 1812 also named Noel. In what appears to be 1822 he moves to Allegany Co. NY. He does not mention wife, but some court papers imply maybe three I am sure of two. Last wife and baby then young adult was given all. He was on Laudum and Dr said not fit to change WILL.' Courts allowed it anyway. Does not make sense to me and not sure if anyone refiled for grievance. He does not mention my ancestor in any data but nor does he mention his past children when last Will was made. Oldest Daughter sued on behalf of family. It appears she lost. Does anyone know if she refiled or what end results were. I know kin was still living in county in 1860's I do not have all dates in front of me but read what was filmed by LDS for Allegany Co. some time back looking for my link possibly. If this was my link he does not mention the mother or son at any time even when he went to Utica to live. Only son Noel b 1812 is mentioned. Would love to contact any family to see if anyone knows any more information regarding this lineage. Susi Jones Pentico SusiCP@cox.net

Half of Clark road is still very much alive, the rest has been legally discontinued but is nearly passable with a four wheeler. There a few camps on it and they want us to reopen that section which we (I'm on the Town Board)won't do because of the expense. etc. I can likely find out the full ID of the G F CLARK who resided in Lyndon on that road in 1869 but it will take some digging in the town records. I agree these CLARKs don't appear to be connected to Selah, etc as I've a good record of that group and none cross over to the others even after the data you gave me. Of course, they may come together over east. Incidentally, George CLARK, son of Selah, married an Electa BURR. I'll put some effort into both lines when I get up to New England later this year. (We have a small home in ME) Thanks again. Regards, Sid Emmons Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: SCarney Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.allegany/1128.1996.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Sid, I have quite a bit on Amzi now, and I now know who his father was. His name was Salathiel Clark and he bought property from the Holland Land Company in the Town of Rushford, near Hardy's Corners, around 1830, having come from Groton, Tompkins Co., NY. He is listed as S. Clark in the 1840 Rushford census. He lived in the area until just after his wife's death around 1847, when he moved west to Ogle/Carroll Co., IL to join his son Hiram, who had moved there, with his wife Abigail Hardy's family. (her parents were Reuben Hardy and Abigail Enos). Salathiel died not long after his arrival in Illinois. I've tracked Salathiel back to a militia group that served from Washington Co., NY in the fall of 1814 at the Battle of Plattsburgh. Amzi Clark's death notice in the Olean Times stated that he was born in Hartford, CT, but I believe this should have read Hartford, Washington Co., NY instead. All of his census responses give New York State as his place of birth. I believe that the man named Amsi Clark in the 1830 Rushford census was Salathiel's brother, as he is too old to be the Amzi who married Sophronia. The older Amzi had also lived in Groton, NY before coming to Allegany Co. A biography for Salathiel's son, Alvah B. Clark, states that Salathiel's wife's name was Mary Smith. I haven't been able to confirm whether this was his only wife, as another researcher believes that his wife's name was Electa. I haven't been able to confirm either woman's name with other sources. Selah and George Clark of Lyndon and Farmersville, don't appear to be related to Salathiel and Amzi's line of Clark's. I have no idea which line of Clark's was responsible for the now long abandoned roadway, but it's likely it was Selah's and George's, as they lived in the area much longer.
