Funeral services for Mrs. Henry CHAMBERLAIN who passed away at her home in Hume Monday evening Sept. 23, were held at her late home at two o'clock, Thursday and at 2:30 o'clock at the Fillmore M.E. church. Rev. Harold WASS, pastor of the Fillmore and Hume M.E. churches, officiated at the home and was assisted by Rev. Royal WOODHEAD of the Fillmore W.M. church at the church. Burial was made in Pine Grove cemetery, Fillmore. Bearers were: W.L. YOUNG, F.A. PURDY, George and Albert SMITH, H.W. HOWDEN, Eugene SCOTT. Friends and relatives were present from several nearby villages. The floral tributes included pieces from the neighbors of Brooklyn Street, Fillmore, friends and neighbors of Hume. Mrs. CHAMBERLAIN was born at Caneadea, April 23, 1857 and on April 8, 1880 was united in marriage to Henry CHAMBERLAIN at Portageville. Hussong 1939 Floyd HUSSONG, 63, of Short Tract, passed away suddenly at his home on the English Hill Road, Tuesday afternoon following and illness of but short duration. Floyd HUSSONG was born April 15, 1876, eldest of three sons of John and Ellen HUSSONG. His boyhood was spent in this community and on March 9th, 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Effie ELDRIDGE. To this union three daughters were born; Mrs. Mildred SMITH of Rossburg, Mrs. Marjory (Fred) HOLLY of Hunt and Frieda HUSSONG of Fillmore; two brothers, Ervin of Short Tract and Frank of Dalton. He became a member of the Methodist Church at the age of fourteen. His life was spent in serving the community in which he lived. He served on the election board for several years, was supervisor of the Town of Granger for two years, and assessor for four years. He became a member of Maple Grove Lodge No. 761 in 1912 and was always an active member, acting as Master for three years. He was also a member of Granger Grange for twenty-six years serving this lodge as Master two years and insurance agent at the time of his death. Floyd will be greatly missed for he always had a smile and cheery word for everyone he met. He was widely known and had a large circle of friends. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church in Short Tract, Rev. PERO of Troupsburg and Rev. POLAND the officiating clergymen. Interment was made in the family lot in Short Tract. A resident of this village all of her life and active in various circles, her untimely death is mourned by the entire community. For a few years after she graduated from the Fillmore high school and the Belfast training class, she taught school at Marilla. Later she entered the State Bank of Fillmore as a bookkeeper where her charming personality and pleasant disposition gained her the respect of countless friends. She served in the capacity of bookkeeper until she was obliged to resign on account of illness early this year. The death of her father and mother occurred within a few months of each other last year. Gladys was a Past Noble Grand of Genesee Rebekah Lodge of Fillmore and active in that fraternal order for several years. She was the only member of the order who held the office of noble grand for more than one year. A patient in Fillmore and Buffalo hospitals for a time during her illness, she was faithfully cared for during her last illness by her sister, Mrs. NOURSE. Besides her sister Hazel, she is survived by a brother Harold BOTSFORD, Fillmore and a niece Evelyn Jean NOURSE. Funeral services will be held from Miss BOTSFORD's home in Fillmore Saturday at two o'clock, the Rev. N.R. SHAFFER officiating. Burial will be made in the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery. She was the daughter of Leroy J. and Betsey E. EASTWOOD. She was united in marriage to Andrew W. BERRY of Rushford January 28, 1875. Mr. BERRY passed away Dec.18, 1930. In the year of 1894 Mrs. BERRY became a member of the Hume M. E. church, and will be long remembered for her devotion to the same, and her many kindnesses in the community. Her sympathy, cheerfulness and uncomplaining qualities, made her many friends who will miss her sadly. The large number of floral offerings showed the respect and high esteem in which she was held. Mrs. BERRY is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. H. Colburn of Fillmore, and Rose at home, a sister Mrs. Lilllian BURR of Houghton, a nephew, Charles BURR of Houghton, and a niece, Mrs. Nellie FOX of Houghton. MERVILLE, 68, long prominent in business and public life of this community, passed away at the Fillmore Hospital Friday evening following an illness extending over several weeks. He was removed to the hospital from his home Wednesday of last week. Mr. MERVILLE had been engaged in the insurance business in Fillmore for over 27 years and during that time had won for himself a countless number of friends. His acquaintance extended over a large territory through this connection and also from the positions of public trust which he had held at various times. He served as justice of the peace of the town of Hume from 1922 to 1938; as assessor of the same town from 1916 to 1931; as police justice of the Village of Fillmore from 1935 to 1938 and also as president of the Fillmore Chamber of Commerce for two years. To all of these offices he brought honor and respect from everyone with whom he had dealings. M.J. MERVILLE was born in Eagle, received his education at Pike Seminary, and started his active career as a traveling salesman for various firms, living for a time in Syracuse and Rochester. He was united in marriage to Floy WILSON in 1896 and soon afterward moved to Fillmore where he has since resided. His wife died in 1917. On July 15, 1919, he was united in marriage to Flora B. MITCHELL who survives, together with a brother-in-law(?) Ernest MERVILLE, of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. BEARDSLEY Jr. and Gerald BEARDSLEY, all of the Town of Hume; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Florence) SCHULT of Spencerport, Mrs. Nathan (Jean) VOLK of Fillmore and Mrs. Merle (Wilma) SHATTUCK of Pike; 33 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary TABER of Largo, Fla. Friends may call at the Kopler Funeral Home, Fillmore, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there Thursday (April 2, 1970) at 2p.m. with the Rev.
