    2. Karen Bush
    3. I have been somewhat scarce the last month as I was involved with an arts and crafts show. It is now over, and I can return to a normal life of genealogy and quilting. Thank you all for your patience. The update to the Allegany page will be up within the next couple of days. As to the obits on the list, rest assured that they will continue to be posted. If anyone has a problem with the number of posts, I suggest changing their subscription to the digest version. You can scan the titles and only open those that are of interest to you. I don't want anyone to feel that they should not post information because it will make list "too busy" The purpose of this list is to get information out there and you never know when that obit or post may be the breakthrough you have been looking for. Melissa has been doing a wonderful thing for all of us and I well know the time and effort it takes, as do the many on this list who have voiced their thanks. I add my thanks, too, as one was one of my family. Those obits will remain in the archives where they will be accessible in the future for those looking for their ancestors. 2. Please do not stop posting the obits. Anyone who is REALLY into searching their family would not want you to stop. It's amazing the information you can pick up from an obituary..family members you were not aware of or had lost. The delete button is available if you are not interested in the family name in the subject heading. Fran

    2. I have thanked Melissa privately but wanted to also let the rest of the list know what a help her postings have been to me personally. The Hall obituaries were of my family. My own branch moved from Allegany County in the 1870's leaving brothers and their families there. We had lost all contact. I now hope I have enough information on names to establish some contacts. Thanks Melissa. Karen McKellar

    3. I think it is a sad day on ANY genealogy list when one person complains about posting obituaries. Personally, I know how much time it does take to post obituaries, but I stopped because of the complaints of two people. These boards are not only for queries, but for ANYTHING that may help people in their genealogical search. Anyone has the freedom to use their delete key, but there are many people who these will help, not only now, but in the future. You are doing a great service. Susan Stahley

    3. I could not have said it better myself. I admire those who take time out of their own busy lives to post obits (or any information that will help others.) Genealogy is all about helping people, or in my opinion, that's what it SHOULD BE about. I have had a great deal of help from complete strangers over the years. Without their unselfish support, I certainly could not have acquired the information I have so far.
