Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BUB.2ACI/5947 Message Board Post: KEITH CHASE REARWIN Sept. 7, 1934 Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 in the Fillmore M. E. Church, preceded by a prayer at the home, for Keith Chase REARWIN, 21, of this place, who passed away suddenly in the Fillmore Hospital Thursday evening, Rev. C. H. NASH of Shinglehouse, Pa., assisted by Rev. Harold WASS of Fillmore were the officiating clergymen. The untimely death of Keith REARWIN cast a gloom over this community in which he was born May 11, 1913, and where he had spent the major portion of his life. He was a popular, respected young man, actively affiliated with various organizations of this place, belonging to Rev. NASH's Sunday school class of young men, had been a member of Brooks Hose Co. for several years, attended Fillmore High School and spent one year at Alfred University. Two years ago he suffered from a serious illness resulting from blood poisoning and was a patient in the Fillmore Hospital for several weeks at which time his life was almost despaired of. He recovered from this, however, and engaged in work on his father's farm for a time. July 18th of this year while engaged in work driving a tractor on the Fillmore railroad underpass project, he sustained an injury to his head, being struck by a lever on a scraper the machine was hauling. The injury, considered insignificant at the time, prevented his working however, and continued to give him trouble. The Wednesday before his death he was removed to the local hospital for treatment and Thursday evening lapsed into a coma from which he failed to rally, his death occurring late that night. Medical science pronounced his death due to an abscess on the brain resulting from the injury. Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. REARWIN, Keith is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Lillian WALKER of Fillmore, to whom he was married Feb. 8, 1934, a sister, Phyllis of Fillmore and a brother Earle, of Buffalo. The funeral was largely attended, the uniformed firemen attending in a body. Burial was made in Pine Grove Cemetery. [Northern Allegany Observer obituary, transcribed by Louise Y. Since my last posting regarding "Bibles Found"; "Bibles Lost"; "Bibles to Share" I have had quite a few people ask me what the url is again - http://www.usgennet.org/usa/topic/ancestors/ I am currently buried in requests to get new posts made to the site. Please be patient if you have sent in a new request in the past week. I will be on vacation the next two weeks and am hoping to get in a trip to New York to research my elusive WORDEN line. (If anyone on these lists has Worden ancestors or WHITING ancestors, please contact me privately.) My WORDEN line first appears in Chautauqua County in the 1830 census (Hanover) and again the 1840 census (Poland), then on to Yorkshire, Cattaraugus County in the 1850 census. I suspect my John Worden could have been born in Chautauqua County, or possibly Allegany County, NY ca 1807/08. (Any and all help greatly appreciated!!) Brenda in Iowa

Hello: My step grandmother, Alice Clair, was born in 1870 in Alfred, NY. According to here obituary and her marriage license her father was Lee Clair and her mother was Mary Davis. In 1880 in Alfred there was a Mary Clair, head of household, living with her parents, who were Davises. The children, which should have been Clairs, are listed as Davis. Alice married a Herbert Davis, I believe to be a cousin, and had three children. She evidently left the children with her in laws, not sure why and had a son by Homer Burdick. She married my grandfather in 1906 in Wellsville. Am interested as to where she was in 1905, (I have other censuses). What happened to her father, Lee Clar. What happened to her husband Herbert Davis. and Were the two of them cousins? In the 1930 census her two sons Everett and Leon Davis were both heads of households in Alfred. Any help or ideas would be most be appreciated. Paul R.L. Vance

There was more than one Mount Morris, but I would start out exploring Mount Morris, NY which is in Livingston, Co. NY. The coordinates are 424332N and 0775228W with an elevation of 626 feet. Livingston Co. is directly North of Allegany Co. You could start by going to the NY GenWeb page where you will see a map of the counties in NYS and can get further information on the various counties and their towns. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/county.htm Margaret Scheffler ----- Original Message ----- From: <B530P@aol.com> .............. She was born on Jan. 16th, 1865 in the village of Bergen and spent the greater part of her childhood in Batavia. When seventeen years of age she moved to this locality and on August 5, 1885 was joined in marriage to Willard H. PHINNEY. During the fifty-four years, from that time until the present, they have lived in the same house, making it through all this time a home of hospitality to all. Eleanor PHINNEY was first of all a home-maker, a wife and a mother, lending a charm to her welcome that her friends cannot forget. At about the age of fifteen she united with the Baptist Church of Batavia. She was a member of the O. E.
