    2. The Lee Family
    3. The Bradford Era's online edition of Tuesday, July 22, 2003 carries the stories, and photos, of the Kinzua Viaduct's collapse. Some of you may have had ancestors who worked on this famous structure so I am including the newspaper's URL: http://www.bradfordera.com in the event you'd like to read a little history of the bridge. The photos are amazing. It's a tragedy to the area to lose something with this much history and something that is so historically significant. I've visited the bridge many times over the years. I'll put a few photos on my site of the bridge before it fell. Maureen Lee www.happeningsinthehills.com

    1. [NYAllega] 1840 census lookup for MAKELEY
    2. Peter William Makeley b. 5-18-1825 d 5-17-1904 m.8-4-1846 to Polly Zimmerman died abt 1850. I believe that she may have died in childbirth or shortly thereafter, as her third son Levan Zimmerman Makeley was born 5-17-1850. Peter wasted no time, and married 2d wife on 7-18-1850 Clarinda Hadsell who died 1910. Am looking for Levan's mother's information, as I have nothing on her. Would she be listed in the 1850 census? I forget what the date was that that one was taken on. There were two other sons with Polly: George Makeley b 12-31-1847 d. 3-12-1848 and Jacob Makeley b. 5-22-1849 d. 5-31-1849. Levan is the only son who survived from that union as he lived to 3-3-1919 and married on 1-1-1872 one Lydia Brokaw. Any information on Polly and Peter, would be greatly appreciated. Also, Peter is the brother or son of Zacheriah Makeley and the son or grandson of William Makeley and Christine Harvey. Any info on these persons, also greatly appreciated. Vicki

Seeking information on marriage of George H. Dickerson and Alice Mae Champlin, 22 February 1889 at the Methodist Church, Ceres, NY/PA. Trying to find Marriage license. Do you know if there is a way to determine where, in the church, they were married? New York side? or Pennsylvania side? Hoping, if I know which side, I can find where the marriage license was issued. I have a lot of information on the Champlin side, but little or nothing on the Dickerson side. Leo Leroy Dickinson (sic), b. 10/13/1889, Ceres) was the son of George and Alice Mae. Don't know if name change was a error in spelling or an accident. Still wondering which is correct. I found George H. Dickerson, b. 18 Jan 1867 in Farmer's Valley, Ceres, PA and died 1946; buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship, Allegany County, NY. He was the son of Charles William Dickerson and Olive A. Treat (or Price). The info. shows he married Addie Johnson ( and had one son Mark Eugene Dickerson, b. 8/11/1894) and Edith Corbin. Was this George H. Dickerson the person married to Alice Mae Champlin? I will be in Allegany County from 24 July 2003 through 29 July 2003.
