Jerome Reynolds and his sister Fern went to live in this hotel with their Aunts, sisters to Maude Wixsom Reynolds, who died in childbirth when Jerome Clark Reynolds was born. Fern and Jerome were in an orphanage for the first 6 or 7 years of their lives. The orphanage my not have been in Friendship. We have no information on it or the hotel.Jerome and Fern's Father was John C. Reynolds and John's Father was Abel T. Reynolds, his wife Fanny Gorton. If you know anything about this hotel or orphanage please contact me.

There were VAUGHANs living in Wellsville NY in the 1850. George Hudson VAUGH(A)N married Eliza Sophronia WEST. I have no info on your Grover Cleveland VAUGHAN. Who were his parents? Additionally, the Joseph CLAIR married Maria EMERSON in 1835, Allegany County. Later on, Joseph and Maria moved to Hebron Township in Potter County PA. There were many CLAIRs in the Allegany and Potter County areas back then. Burial will take place in Houghton. She died Wednesday morning at the Warsaw Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 30, 1894, in Fillmore, New York, Miss Gillette was the daughter of Benjamin K. and Dell PRATT GILLETTE. For 39 years she was employed by Houghton College as dining hall dietician. She lived with her cousin, Dr. Freida GILLETTE, who is chairman of the Division of History and Social Studies at Houghton. She retired in June, 1963, because of ill health. A member of the Fillmore Wesleyan Methodist Church for many years, she taught a woman's Bible class there. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kopler Funeral Home, Fillmore. ROCK GERE Mrs. Mary A. GERE, 86, of 33 Sherman Street, Belfast, died November 30, 1973, in Cuba Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Caneadea, the former Mary A. ROCK was married to Frank L. GERE in 1958. Mr. GERE died in April 1973. A resident of Cuba for 15 years, Mrs. GERE moved to Belfast earlier this year. She was a graduate of Belfast Training Class and Cornell University. Mrs. GERE was a retired school teacher who had served Belfast, Caneadea, and Wiscoy schools for 50 years prior to her retirement in 1955. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Belfast; its Rosary and Altar Society; and the New York State Retired Teacher's Association. Survivors include two sisters, Miss Rose R. ROCK and Mrs. Marguerite WARD, both of Belfast, and a nephew. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Murken Funeral Home, formerly the Wolcott Funeral Home, Belfast, where a prayer service and recitation of the Rosary will take place on December 3, 1973. A funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Patricks Church, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Belfast.

She married Richard GAYFORD, who survives. Mrs. GAYFORD was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, 491, of Hume. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons, Eugene GAYFORD of Rushford and Gerald GAYFORD, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Robert CLUTE of Hume and Mrs.Leigh BAILEY of Hornell; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a brother, Albert SCOTT of Florida; and a sister, Mrs. Blanche BRAYMAN of Hume; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the Kopler Funeral Home, Fillmore, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held there Saturday, July 14, 1973 at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
