Promoted to corporal, after the battle of Gettysburg, served at the front and participated in all the battles that the regiment was engaged in, which also included Sherman's march to the sea. He was born in 1825, and is still living on the same farm and a few yards distant from the house where he was born. He is now afflicted with paralysis and has to keep to the house. It will be hard for people who have only known him of recent years to recognize "Lon Jordan" as he has been so familiarly called, in the accompanying picture, evidently taken not long after his rafting days on the Allegheny. Mr. Jordan has done his full share in clearing off the forests which covered our town. He was also a hunter of much renown in these parts." Hi Vicki ... If you go here and use "Find" you will see Rogers Machine Tool Co. is now Bristol Tool and Die: http://www.contractmanufacturing-ez.com/contractmanufacturing/0022211_0003427_951.html if it is the same Rogers, that is. Since Bristol is located in IN, it is pretty iffy. banker and county treasurer. Does anyone remember his "relative charge" that of one Andrew James Barrett? Am looking to find Andrew's biological parents. I have a name for the mother in military papers for him but she is listed there as Mrs. Myrtle May Covert in Watertown, Jefferson Co. NY. Anyone out there know of her or her son Andrew who lived with David and his wife Kezia? Does anyone know when David and Kezia died? I know when Andy died but not his mother, and father was listed as unknown. Anyone know who his father may have been? Was Myrtle a Crocker or Burdick or Barrett before marrying Covert? Any info helpful! Vicki
