I was intrigued by the Daniel Bertron you found as a fifer in the Revolutionary War but have not been able to make a link. I saw David Daniel Bertron as a Revolutionary War pensioner and assume this is the one you were referring to. (At least I think his middle name was Daniel). There might very well be some link since my gr-gr-grandfather Daniel J. Bertron of Canisteo, Steuben Co., NY died at 67 in 1876 and was from NJ. We just don't know where and who his parents were. The name variations in the US are Bertran, Bertron and Bartron from the original Bertrand of France (Alsace-Lorraine is our family lore for our Bertrons). If you have any other advice and/or info, I would be very grateful to hear from you or anyone reading this posting. With the Allegany Co., posting I might add the name of Balch. Melissa Balch was from Allegany Co., NY and married Daniel J. Bertron. She seems t! o be from the John Balch of Beverly, MA line that was one of the earliest Mass. Bay Colony settlers and his house is the oldest frame house still standing in the US. THANKS again! Daryl

Are there any records about that early school established in Cuba? My grandmother, Abbie Shea, was born there in 1859. Among her siblings were Daniel, Mary, Bridget, Ellen, MIchael, John, Katie. Some of them are buried with their parents, Micheal and Ellen Shea, in the Catholic portion of the Cuba cemetery. Yes, they were Irish immigrants. Anyone find any mention of them in school records? love joan For this is the day that the Lord hath made Join me in rejoicing in it, and let us be glad!

Race built and owned - it is a Chicago historic landmark house (and we're in the process of nominating it for a National Historic Landmark house). I don't know if you're aware, but Stephen A. Race (and his brother Charles) were the founders of Irving Park, Ilinois, which is now part of Chicago. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on your request, but I am - in my pursuing of getting Race House designated as a historic landmark - I'm seeking photographs of Stephen A. Race (and his family) - as well as early photographs of the house.
