While I don't have anything on son Charles M (age 11 in 1850), I did find a bit on John W AUSTIN as follows: 'John W AUSTIN was born in 1816 in Chenango county. In 1818 his father Luther came to that part of Friendship now Wirt, and settled near the center, and made the first clearing on the farm. In 1820 he moved to Bolivar, and, in company with others, built the first sawmill in that town. Mr Austin married Louisa NICHOLS. They had 5 children. He has resided in Ceres since 1840. His principle business has been that of mill building. He has served as justice of the peace for over 30 years.' (from pg 890 of the History of Allegany County NY by John S Minard, pub. 1896) You will note that only 4 children are listed in the 1850 census. I am quite certain the 5th child was Sarah W b abt 1841 who marr John CHILDS of Clarksville, Allegany Co. His father, Alanson, d in Genesee. I have this line back into the 1600's. I don't know where you live, but there's an excellant geno center in the basement of the Bolivar Library. This winter I'll likely go over and check the AUSTIN line out but I doubt if your Charles will have much data there as he moved to PA, but you never know. Today I added 2 more history files for Allegany County to my web site. These list few names for use in Genealogy but are interesting to read: Early Exploration of Allegany County Our Predecessors - The Six Nations. If your ancestors were also just North West of Allegany County I have added more biographies for Erie and Genesee Counties also. All my New York files may be found from this link: http://history.rays-place.com/ny/index.htm Cheers Ray

I am more than willing to look and see if I can find anything about your Charles. However I might need to know a bit more about the family, especially descendants. I know it carries most of the Austin surname into the present generations. I will be home by sunday. Carol Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am looking for a Marsha Redden who posted to a query about West Almond cemeteries in August 2007. I am wondering is she has Lincoln and Borchard ancestors. I came across a Mrs Redden from FL who had left Lincoln information in the family files at the Hagadorn House (AHS) in Almond. This Mrs Redden had since passed away but wondered if Marsha is related. My husband is a Lincoln descent from the Almond area. I have information to share and would love to learn of any someone else might have too. The Jewish Genealogical Society of Buffalo is featuring a DVD, SUNDAY, October 21 at 1:30 pm in the Lippman Lounge at the Jewish Community Center, Benderson Building, 2640 North Forest Road in Getzville. “The Genographic Project”, is a DVD on the journey of man, which is sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Dr. Spencer Wells, a population geneticist, is the Project Director of the The Genographic Project. Dr. Wells traveled all over the world, taking DNA samples from indigenous peoples in remote parts of the world tracking the Y chromosomes of men and looking for certain markers that would show up in men on various continents. He started with the Bushmen in Africa and tracked the journey of men to Australia and then on to other parts of the world noting how the ice age had an effect on where people traveled and how that affected the color of man's skin. This fascinating program is open to the public. RSVP Ferne 689-9670 or [email protected] ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better Heartthrob.
