If your Charles is who you believe him to be he would be a cousin (however many times removed) to me as Louisa Nichols Austin was the sister of my GGGGrandmother Sarah (Sally)Nichols Ives. I can't give you the link to the Austin website but if you search the net for AFAOA. org or Edith Austin Moore you should find it. Author: Sharon2491 Surnames: Hawley, Ward Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.allegany/9879.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: >From History of Ontario County, NY Published 1878 Pg 31 - 36 "...Moses WARD, Sr., now eighty years of age, and a resident of Canandaigua, near Cheshire, set out the last of August, 1808, at the age of twelve years, to go from Owl Creek, in Allegheny County, to Canandaigua." In the above quote the Moses Ward Sr. mentioned is my great-great grandfather, son of Stephen Ward. He walked from Owl Creek where he had been working for his brother-in-law back home to the Canandaigua area in Ontario County, NY, south of Rochester. This is the first reference I have come upon that Moses had a married sister. Last year on the Allegany message board a responder surmised that Owl Creek may have been Oil Creek This is what the gentleman wrote: "I have never come across Owl Creek in Allegany County. There is, however, an "OIL Creek" and Oil Creek Resevoir, now called Cuba Lake. The Oil Creek area is right on the border of Allegany County and Cattaraugus County and near Hinsdale. Is it possible that the word might be Oil instead of Owl? If so, it would be Town of Cuba, Allegany County, NY." Only recently did did I come across the names of the couple Andrew Hawley and Polly Ward Hawley with just the mention of the fact that they were buried in Allegany County. I have no further information about them (children, etc.) Also, I found reference to an Andrew Hawley who was a pioneer in the Cuba area. I am guessing/hoping that the two Andrews are one and the same person and that this Andrew is possibly the husband of the sister (name unknown) of my great-great grandfather. I am hoping also that that someone in the area will have further information (census, B/M/D records, cemetery transcription, family bible records, etc.) to help me to make the connection to my Wards of Ontario County. There should have been a reply to you regarding the Almond Historical Society in Almond,NY. They have a wonderful archive room with family files and Priors would more than likely be ones. You could call them on Friday afternoon. They have a website you can google to see which gives their phone number too. Almond is right next to Burns and an area of Burns and Almond sort of run into each other that is called North Hill and the Priors may have lived in that area. There are many Priors buried in Union Cemetery Bishopsville, Almond, NY and also Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond, NY. Catherine, Aldin and Marian are all buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Almond. Catherine 1904, Aldin 1858 and Marion 1867.This is in plot A-307. William is in plot A-179 no date of death shown and there are also 4 unknown graves there. Hope this helps you. I loaned my copy to someone from the Seventh Day Church in Alfred Station and they said that it did not cover their church. It did cover anyone in Almond either. Mr. DeGrof who lived in the town of Genesee told me that he had made card for the historical society there covering data on the people of the church. Unfortunatly Mr. DeGroff died but the historical society there would know where his data is held. The Almond Historical society is open on Friday afternoons at the Hagadorn House which is at the one stop light in town. They have much data on the Prior family that someone else was looking into. Six members of the Prior family were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Thirteen members of the Prior family were buried in the Bishopville. Bishopville is in North Almond. The people at the Hagadorn House have files on families. They are very helpful.I worked for them for many years.

    2. Not sure if this came directly though Rootsweb message board so I am sending this via "reply" in hopes that it can be passed on to Barbara Bernstein. I also sent one directly to her but not sure if she will get it. Thank you. Barbara, I hope you will get this email sent this way from me. It was such a pleasure to get your email in response to the Seventh Day Baptist questions I had put a query out on. I had not expected to get such an overwhelming response. I was just trying to fill in some blanks in the family tree of two sisters of my husband's gr gr grandfather. They had turned out to marry SDB members. I did find what I was looking for with the help of someone who was able to find the information through records of the third SDB church in Genesee, NY. I am aware of who are you. I have seen your name many times in information at the Hagardorn House. My husband grew up in Almond until eighth grade when he moved to Canaseraga. His whole family is from Almond though and about three years ago I began to research all of them. We live in IL now but each year come to Almond and have spent a good deal of time researching at the Hagardorn House. We keep in touch with Doris Montogermy and Donna Ryan often and Dave's cousin by marraige is Mary Ellen Westlake. About a year ago we met through emailing a woman who is a McIntosh distant cousin and she and another cousin of hers had had some genalogy research I believe done by you. You are a well respected name at the Hagadorn House. Thank you for your reply. Florence Wright (Mrs David) [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) **************Start the year off right. I did see Obed A. Patterson is listed in the Canaseraga Cemetery as 1845-1930 CO E 21st NYCAV. There are other Pattersons there and quite a number of Wrights. None of those Wrights are ours but could be ones you are looking for. If you have not already seen this cemetery listing it is under Allegany County Cemetery listings. See it under Burns, NY. Hope this helps you. Florence Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
