They are both buried in the SDB Circle of Ministers in Westerly RI. They had 5 children including Rowland Coon and Nancy Coon. Nancy is my gr gr gr grandmother. Rowland married Sarah Tefft and I have 3 children listed for them, Lorenzo (1817 - ????), Alonzo B. Coon (3 Jan 1820 - 21 Nov 1891), and Melissa D. Coon (18 jul 1822 - 1 dec 1860). Rowland Coon came to Genesee and settled on Coon Hollow road. Rowland pretty much cut his farm out of the wilderness. Rowland's son Alonzo B. Coon reamined with his father pretty much until Rowland died and then moved to the Kenyon farm near Fiendship NY with his wife. Rowland is buried in the Little Rhode Island cemetery in Little Genesee. That cemetery is all related except one or two. Melissa married Danforth Fairbank. She died at 38 years and is buried with her father and mother. Now for Lorenzo. How do I know that his name was Lorenzo ? well, he and his wife have two children buried in the West Genesee (Obi) cemetery who died before they left Genesee. The MOST ACCURATE information I have ever found are gravestones of children. There is no mother in the world that would allow any mistakes on their children's stones. And the name on both stones is LORENZO. I have lost all track of Lorenzo after he and his wife left the area. It sure would be nice to have an up date on him for this area. If u would could u please contact me at [email protected] and we could arrange a transfer of information. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I only have 2 children (Edwin and Amelia) in my files for Joseph P. Reynolds and Evelyn Hart; I would certainly like to know of the others. Just for the record, Joseph Snowden Hart was a first cousin of my gg-grandfather Andrew Stout Hart; Theodosia Stout was a second cousin of my gg-grandfather above, as well as a sister-in-law of my gg-grandaunt Ure Sarah (Hart) Stout. I am thinking that Laura and Mariah died sometime in 1854. and he remarried Mary and they had a daughter Laura. I may be wrong about the connection. Our lucien was born March 21 1846 his birth place was hornell ny which is very near independence. any info would be appreciated. The West Genesee (nee Third Genesee) SDB Church was located on the Portville-Cuba Road (today's NY305) very near where Coon Hollow Road meets 305. There were actually THREE Alonzo Coons. There was Alonzo A. Coon, Alonzo B. Coon, and Alonzo Maxson Coon. The most confusion involves Alonzo A. and Alonzo B. Alonzo Maxson Coon died in the Civil War. Alonzo A. Coon was the son of Pardon Coon and Esther Walker. He married twice; first Abby Tefft Green, secondly Prudence Bowler. Alonzo B. Coon was the son of Rowland Coon and Sarah Tefft. He married first Eleanor Kenyon and secondly Mary C. Compton. Both Alonzo's are buried in cemeteries about a mile apart outside Friendship, Alle Co, NY. Alonzo A. Coon is buried in Nile Cemetery and further up the road Alonzo B. Coon is buried in Utopia Cemetery. Both of these cemeteries are listed on the Allegany Co Rootsweb site. Alonzo A. Coon and his second wife Prudence Bowler are well written up in the Sabbath Recorder. When he was 82 and she was 74, she was stricken and could no longer care for the two of them. Her daughter by her first marriage came from Wisconson and took her back with her, separating the two of them. Prudence died shortly after arriving in Wisconson. When Alonzo was told about her death he said "There is no longer any reason to live". He turned his face to the wa! ll and was dead within hours. They say he died of a broken heart. I looked through the census of the area & this is the closest I came. In 1900 she said she was born Nov 1860 (parents of England & Scotland), but in 1860 (June) I saw her with Henry Bolsover (b. England)& Catherine (nee Rork, b. Scotland) Bolsover with her age 8/12, which would give her b. abt nov 1859. Also, this would also give her a sister named Minnie. This is distant in my family. Minnie Hickox married George Little, who is the 1st cousin of Frederick & Cecil Little. Both of which married 2 of my great-grandaunts. I have a little more on the Bolsover/Hickox, but not too much as I have mostly Little. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The first I can find him is in 1820 in Nunda, Allegany Co, NY also listed there is Lyman H Newton. (Would also like more info on him as I can't seem to figure out where he went!) In 1830 I find Robert Newton in Grove, Allegany Co, NY and also listed there is "Klah" Newton which is obviously a spelling error- when looking at it, I thought it might look like Silas or Lyman. In 1840, I can't find Robert Newton at all in NY. In 1850 I find Robert Newton living with the family of Williard Blake age 46, Rachel his wife age 36,Edmund Blake 4, then Robery Newton 72, Henry Newton 15, Rufus Newton 11. Listed also on the same page is a William Newton age 38 and his wife Esther Newton age 30. Obviously I feel that al of these Newtons are related somehow. I wonder if Henry is the son of Robert, but he is so young, I wonder if he is the son of Rachel from a previo! us marriage. ANY help putting together these families would be most appreciated! Allegany County families that connect to the Palatine German Immigration group of 1710 will very likely be interested in a recent announcement of the "Palatine DNA Project." You can read about this on the Upstate New York Genealogy website at: www.unyg.com and clicking on the "UNYG Blog."
