Fellow Searchers: I am looking for some help. I am looking for parents of my Caroline (Carrie) Coats, born about 1850, New York State. I believe I have found her father in the 1860 US Fed. Census. His home was Howard, Steuben , NY, Widower, age 51, born about 1809 in Vermont. Daniel was listed as having 7 children (Will list below). I would love to find out who his wife was and parents also. On the 1880 US Fed Census it says he lives in Burns, Alleghany, New York. He is 72, widower. His Father & Mother's birth place are Massachusetts. He is living with his Son John H. Coats and family. Any suggestions on finding his wife's name and more about this family? I have searched for a very long time and stumbled upon this, never finding it before. Your October 21 reply came right when I was preparing for some overseas travel and I am afraid I dropped the ball. I have only just now returned to the States. I am so pleased to have this information you have sent, and I will study all of this and see if there isn't something in MY store of GRAY ancestors than could be helpful to you. You will hear from me soon with a more coherent response. Again many thanks Leslie Gray Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hopefully you have found the family back in Monroe County. You mentioned you had looked at the pension files on Amasa and Duane, which I have also done. I am now looking at the pension on another brother George, but they did not send the whole report yet because it was too long. In it was a transcript of the Bible page from Duane that had the birth dates of Duane and his siblings. If you haven't seen that, I can get you a copy. No mention so far of any wife for George, so don't know if Olive Kenyon was the spouse. Amasa Jr. and Theron were too young to be the spouse, so I am running out of Gray's to look at! Knight's first wife, Lois Acker had Helen(killed in horse and buggy accident), Frank, Fred and Florabell. I have same info on split. He then married your grt. grandma. The children of Delano were Lydia's nieces and nephews, offspring of her own sister Susan. Her only children were Albert and Joseph. She died a Blanchard giving birth to twins. Interestingly, Blanchard was father to Mark, who later married one of the Wilcock's girls, Albert's wife's sister. Albert married 3 of four sisters! Wild back there but marriage was often about convenience. Please email me so I can discuss more and how to get copies of letters and charts to you. my email is: [email protected] regards, Ginny Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was my great grandfather. His son Owen was my grandfather and his daughter Violet was my mother. My great grandmother was Lois Bowen Cooper, Joseph's second wife. They were married 9/3/68 or 69 in Fredericksburg, Iowa. They had 5 children, Cora in 1870, Willie 1871, Lida 1874, Owen 1877 and Charles in 1881. Most of this is on census info. By Lois Acker I was told that he had Frank in 1860, Fred 1862. There is a Florence Roe Bonehill mentioned in a letter. Who she is is a mystery to me, but it is mentioned that she is the child of Frank's only sister. My question is which Frank? By the way, this info is from a 1946 letter to my Aunt Dollie from Frank Knight's second wife Adelaide House Knight. She mentioned that A baby Flora was born after Frank and Fred. The baby went with her mother Lois Acker Knight back to New York. Fred and Frank stayed with Joseph in Iowa. In letter it was mentioned that Lydia was a Delano and several of the children resemble the Delanos. How can this be? If she only married the Delano as a 2nd marriage and they had no children. Another curiosity is the Blanchard connection. No where in what little stuff I have is there mentioned anything about Blanchard. Maybe you could clear this up. If so, did Lydia die in New York? I would be very excited to receive anything about the Capens or anyone else that I am connected to. I would certainly like to reimburse you any cost. Possibly you would like my regular EMAIL address. Thank you so much for all that you have shared. It has made my day. Thanks June Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. June, thank you for the info. My email is [email protected]com. I have a notebook kept by my grt. grandma Annie Knight Purdy, daughter of Albert(Joseph's)older and only brother. The notes are difficult to read because of her writing style. I would love your email and home address as I could copy several letters that Addie(Adelaide House Knight wrote to Annie regarding geneology. I would also copy the chart of Capens back to 1500s to send. I have not been into my research for a couple of years but will try to answer what I can for you. My grt. grandmother spoke of her Aunt Emaline (sister of her mother Fannie) who was married to Mark Blanchard. His father took as a wife, Lydia Capen Knight Delano after his first wife's death. I will look for written info on this. All of these people were in York State and then moved to Fredricksburg, Iowa. We have lots of ground at the Rose Hill Cemetary. June...email me and I will fill you in on where I am, etc. Ginny --- "[email protected]" <[email protected]> wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to > this mailing list. > > Author: JuneMayer71 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.allegany/1573.1.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > At last-I have only information about Joseph Knight > after Iowa.
