Y. &columns=*,0,0 and then click on where it says "To view a digital version of this book click here." I just found out this week that some of my Ward ancestors are mentioned in this book, specifically my great-great grandfather, Moses Ward of Cheshire, Ontario County, NY and two of his sisters (Polly Ward Hawley and Phebe Ward Abbott) and their husbands (Andrew Hawley and Salmon Abbott) who were among the first settlers in the Oil Creek/Cuba area. Moses wrote a manuscript about his early life and adventures in the wilderness as he travelled back and forth from Ontario County to Allegany County to visit his sisters and chapters 12 (starts on page 70) and 13 are made up entirely of excerpts from this manuscript. Do you descend from any of the Wards named above? Sharon Welland, Ontario, Canada Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Also, Phebe WARD ABBOTT, wife of Salmon ABBOTT, another pioneer in the Cuba area, is also a sister of Moses WARD. Moses, a brother Stephen Jr., Polly, and Phebe are the only known children to date of Stephen WARD (died 1824) of Ontario County, NY. Read our latest Blog with some additional information regarding the eight sets of NYS microfiche indexes to Births, Deaths and Marriages for most of the Upstate New York areas. Now one of the libraries is offering to do free lookups! Read the story on Upstate New York Genealogy Blog at http://ny-genes.blogspot.com. ps: The Blog site is getting thousands of hits at this time, and it is responding slowly. If you go to http://ny-genes.blogspot.com and wait for the page to fill in (it will at first appear quite dark,) it will fill in eventually. If you are on broadband there should be no problem. If you are on dialup it will take longer, but hey, free is worth the wait. If it does not fill in within a minute or two, try back later. We are just getting hammered. Dick Hillenbrand www.unyg.com

Hello, Listers! I have a quandary and hopefully someone out there can help. In the “Angelica Collectaneau” (the book) it lists an obituary for Frank Clyde Baker. Son of John E. and Sarah Morehouse Baker. In 1926 he married Hazel M. Eldred. Survivors were wife, three sons and one daughter, and a brother, Harlan E. Baker of Belmont. Okay, here’s the problem. I found him in the 1920 and 1930 census. However, expecting to find a wife and at least one child by then, he was still listed as single, and no Hazel Baker anywhere to be found in the area. Anyone have any ideas? What happened to wife and children? Does anybody have any information on the Eldred family, or an obituary for Hazel. I have no idea when she may have died and have not found her in any cemetery listing online so far. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Regards – Jody Keiser in KS
This is not a line I am researching. Sorry.
Thanks for the infor about Daniel Cartwright. Do you know if he had any siblings and where they migrated from to Alleghany county.
