I recently read a lovely book about four generations of an Irish family living in Watervliet and Troy during the last century. Because of "Troy" in the title The Nightingales of Troy, this book caught my eye on the new fiction shelf at the library. I loved it so much I bought my own copy to reread and am giving copies as Christmas gifts to family. It's by a woman who grew up in Troy, and besides really beautiful writing about the character's lives, it has many descriptions of what the area looked like and felt like to the Irish living there going back to 1908.
