Colleen, Was at Archives yesterday. Saw a mention of a marriage of a CORNELIUS COLLINS in Lockport on 4-24-1912. Also, one in Lyons on 3-31-1913. Saw a marriage for a ELLEN F. McCARTHY in Whiteboro on 12-12-1913. and one for ELLEN McCARTHY on 2-20-1913 in Buffalo. Wednesday is day I usually stop in the Archives and/or Library. Need to cross-reference them. Hi John, Thanks for the info.? I don't think these are the right ones, as the census says that my Cornelius and Ellen were married in about 1906-1907 or so.? I gather you did not see on in the 1806-1807 time frame? Family stories have it that Cornelius Collins and Ellen McCarthy were married in a church in NYC.? But I haven't found a marriage record for them in the indexes.? When was civil marriage registration mandatory in the state of NY?? Is it possible they married in the church but did not register the marriage civilly? Is it possible that they registered the marriage in NJ but had a church wedding in NYC?
