Many mistakes were made by census takers in spelling, ages & even gender, my grandmother in 1880 was listed as a "son". Her name was misspelled from Census to Census with either an "er" or an "or" ending or Tainter became Tinter, you must keep your mind open. Also, many times from census to census our grandparents and greats would use a nickname or their middle name or reverse their first and middle name, who knows why. Alice Eliza would become Eliza A.
