I have an ancestor, Johan Christian Fuchs, who was married and had a son baptized there in the 1860's. I'm looking to find the hometown in Prussia from where he came. I've had no luck at the hall of records or the state library. i'm also trying to get thru to some local churches, but so far, no luck. I would join a mailing list I'm on www.sggee.org. It's is the Society for German Genealogy in Eastern Europe. The list is very knowledgeable and they have their own extensive database. Much of Prussia is now in Poland. The best other place for records is the Mormon church microfilms http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp .
