The 1959 City Directory shows that George died in 1957, but a widow Anne and his son George Jr. (a student) are shown living together. Try plugging George A. Stahler into zabasearch.com for NY State. The one born in 1939 appears to live not far from Albany and is about the right age to have been listed in the City Directory as a student in 1959. He could be the undertaker's son and perhaps could help you with the location of any records that might survive if you are willing to contact him. Also, have you contacted the Ann Lee Home (now merged with the Albany County Nursing Home) to see if they might be of any help? I've no idea what records they might have kept or if they would even release them. It occurs to me that if you have no informant on the death certificate that perhaps the Ann Lee Home rather than a relative/friend made the burial arrangements. Hope this helps a little.
