Hi Listers, I just joined the list hoping to get some help finding a marriage record.? I am helping a friend get his Irish citizenship, and am searching for the marriage record of his grandparents.? I have searched the records for NYC, but they are not there although the grandfather is listed at the same address in NYC from before he was married until?he and his wife?had their first child in about 1909.? I contacted the NY State Archives at the Cultural Education Center in Albany, and was told that the records are available to the public, but only if you visit them in person.? Since I live in California, this is hard to do.? I was wondering if any of the members of this list ever go down to the Archives and could do a lookup for me for the marriage record from 1906-1907. ?Here is the info: Cornelius Edmond Collins b. October 28, 1881 Miltford, Co. Cork, Ireland Son of Edmond Collins and Mary Fitzgerald married? Ellen (Helen, Nellie) McCarthy, McCartie b. August 28, 1884 Co. Cork, Ireland Daughter of Charles McCarthy (McCartie) and Hannah Collins Parents lived in Dunmanway, Co. Cork for a while, but Ellen apparently not born there. According to the 1910 Census, the couple was married in 1906-1907.? I contacted the Onadaga County Library in Syracuse, and found a marriage record of a Nellie A. McCarthy, m 21 Nov 1907, Mt. Morris NY #27330, but there is no groom listed, so I can't tell if?this is the right marriage record. ?A call to the Mt Morris town clerk revealed that the Mt Morris office is missing the records from Feb 1907-Jan 1908, so they can't help me either.??The?Onadaga Library?has the indexes for the whole state except for Buffalo, Albany, and NYC.? I think the office in Albany has the whole state except for NYC, which I have checked independently. If any of the listers plan to go down to the NY State Archives in the near future, I'd appreciate it if you would do a lookup for me for this marriage record.
