    2. Descendants of Ananias Conklin(g) were among the earliest settlers in Rensselaerville which is in the extreme southwest corner of Albany County. They came from East Hampton, Long Island. Daniel Conkling, Sr. was among the earliest. Among other early Conkling names were Daniel Jr., John, Gurdon, David, and Josiah. Some used the Conkling spelling and some used the Conklin spelling.
