He was born around 1826 in Cohoes, Albany Co., New York. He married a woman named Sarah (looking for her maiden name) and had at least two sons: Egbert and Ivan. He moved to Oshkosh, WI in the 1850's. I am looking for his parents names, any other children, his wife's maiden name, etc. Any help is appreciated. Here is his obit: Daily Northwestern May 6, 1895 p.4 Death of J.B. Hicks Never Regained Consciousness- Funeral services to be held tomorrow Justus H. Hicks, whose critical illness was noted on Friday, died Saturday night at 11:45 o'clock. He was unconscious for a long period preceding his death and never rallied from the first stroke of paralysis. He was born in Cohoes, N.Y. in 1825 and came to Winnebago county in 1853. In 1865 he moved to Oshkosh and for a time was quite an active business man. He was one of the first secretaries of the Winnebago County Agricultural society and was a foremost worker in early days for the upbuilding of that organization. Immediate relatives who survive him are a wife and two sons, Ivan H. and Egbert H., both of this city. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from Odd Fellows' hall on Algoma street. The interment will be at Ellenwood. Daily Northwestern May 7, 1895 p.8 The funeral services of the late Justus Hicks were held at Odd Fellows hall on Algoma street this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. H.
