    3. Thanks to all who provided information on the Albany Prison. Very interesting. The family researchers will follow up, and I am in contact with many of them. I was in error when I said it was Hiram Ten Eyck who was in prison in 1870. It was his father Barent. J. Ten Eyck b. 1804 Berne, son of Johannes TE and Maria Weidman. He married first Christeana. In 1850 he was a shoemaker, widowed in Newark, Tioga Co. In 1860 he was a shoemaker in Knox, Albany, married to Mary with son Hiram b. 1854. (I was helping family reseachers identify his parents.) In 1870 he was a shoemaker in the Albany Penitentary. Now that I have found the father of Hiram for the family researchers, they were asking me why he was in prison and what became of him. That I do not know. I appreciate the suggestions of avenues to pursue.
