My Catholic ancestors in that area (Sleasman, Wertman) attended Our Lady of Angels in Albany. And even if they didn't go to church there, the Our Lady of Angels cemetery on Central Ave in Colonie is a good place to look for Sand Creek Road area Catholics. My grandfather's cousin Roy Emerick ( b. abt 1911) and his family farmed on Albany-Shaker Road. The horse-powered ride to church on Sunday took an hour. Roy, his siblings and mother attended Our Lady of Angels, while his Lutheran father attended St. Johns - directly across Central Ave - at the same time.
