    1. [NYALBANY] The beaver dam of Berne
    2. Harold Miller
    3. When the Town of Berne was first settled over 250 ears ago, it was called Beaverdam or Beaver Dam because of its location next to a large beaver dam. The location of the dam has been lost in time (although there was a time a few years ago that I thought I had discovered it). The other day I had an inspiration, and using my computer here in my home in Oaxaca, Mexico, I found the location of the dam! I have posted the details on my blog the History and Genealogy of Berne, New York<http://berneny.blogspot.com/2009/04/beaver-dam.html>in two blogs. This link is to the first posting. Then read the followup I posted today which links or shows current Google maps.
