    3. The Troy Irish Genealogy Society has started a new project with St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands to data enter their interment records. This project will give the Cemetery a searchable data base for their use and eliminate the handling of the old fragile books. The date elements on the interment records that are of interest to genealogy researchers will also be available to the public on line at the TIGS website: www.rootsweb.com/~nytigs/ If you are not familiar with the Troy Irish Genealogy Society, go to the website address above and take a look at the PROJECTS section. There are numerous data entry projects already online covering many thousands of Irish AND non-Irish names. This data entry work is done by volunteer transcribers from all across the county. These volunteers are currently working on the 10 Volume Set of Rensselaer County Marriages. So far, seven of the volumes are on-line on the TIGS website and work is currently being done on Vol. 8 and Vol. 9. Then Vol. 10 still has to be tackled. In order to begin the project with St. Agnes Cemetery there is a need for additional transcribers to help with the data entry. All that is needed is to have Excel on your computer and Adobe, which is available as a free download. Instructions for the data entry will be provided by email along with a Excel spreadsheet and a page of interment records as attachments. Data entry elements on the interment pages are: 1. Name. 2. Where Born. 3. Died - Where & When. 4. Residence. 5. Age. 6. Disease. 7. Date of Interment. This new project should especially interest Albany area researchers and it is hoped that a number of readers of this email would volunteer to become a transcriber. If you are interested in helping with this project, send an email off list to: Bill McGrath TIGS Project Coordinator Clifton Park, NY seamus@nycap.rr.com
