There was one newspaper in Rensselaerville which was published during the 1870s for about 8 years. It was called the Rensselaerville Press. You may be able to find microfilm copies at a reference or archives area of a library because the copies that the Rensselaerville Historical Society has were microfilmed several years ago when there was a State project to microfilm newspapers. It was called the Newspaper Project or something like that. Ask at the NY State Library archives or reference dept. Our copies are extremely fragile and stored in acid-free newspaper-size boxes but not easily accessed as it would require handling each page and we really are reluctant to have visitors do that. Since they are not indexed either, your best option would be to see microfilm copies at a library. It is possible that archives or reference folks at the State Library would be able to help you further as they should have microfilms of all the newspapers in the state from that project. Rensselaerville had a highly active and developed social structure during that time; there's got to be a wealth of "brevities" out there somewhere! The Albany Argus? Any others? Something from Greene County? The Knowersville/Altamont Enterprise issues online are pretty sketchy for R ensselaerville/Lake Myosotis/etc. until perhaps the 1920s. I'd like to find items mentioning the Rensselaerville Gossmans. Frances Gossman Shufelt shows up in a few issues of the Enterprise. However, I'd really like something from the 1800s up to 1920. TIA!
