Try the Tomes Union Newspaper site. Not sure how far back the archives go and assume a small fee may be required for a copy.

I just checked the Times Union site. Their archived obituaries go back to 1993. The obituaries are online free for a period of one year, but they are not maintained by Times Union. They are on the site of Legacy which archives obituaries for many newspapers around the country. After a year, there is probably a small fee. There was six months ago.
