    3. P.S. 4 was located at corner of Madison Ave. and Ontario St., across from former Vincention HS. The school building also housed Pine Hills Branch of Albany Public Library during the mid to late 1940's, when I attended elementary school there. You suggested an interesting article. Perhaps the web site it references would address the original question: what happened to the dome on this school. 1. [NYALBANY] Tips on Genealogy Research in Troy, NY
    2. Bill & Cathy McGrath
    3. The Troy Irish Genealogy Website www.rootsweb.com/~nytigs/ has a lengthy article on genealogy research in Troy, New York. To see the article on the website, click on RESOURCES and scroll down to the title heading. Many of the tips covered in the article can be applied to doing research in areas other than Troy. Of particular interest in the article is the section on Troy Deaths and Burials on microfilm at the Troy Library. These Death and Burial records are an important reference for Troy area researchers since many of the entries predate the 1880 New York State law requiring the reporting of deaths. Records start in 1833. Individuals who died outside of Troy are listed IF they were buried in Troy. Some years of these records (1833, 1835, 1839, 1841, 1842, 1845, 1863, 1864, 1881, 1882, 1883, 1885, 1889, 1890) are now available on line. Check out the Rensselaer County NY Genweb site, coordinated by Lin Van Buren, for these records as well as a fantastic amount of genealogy related information on Rensselaer County. Address is: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyrensse/troybury.htm Regards, Bill McGrath Clifton Park, NY
