Hi JT, The indexes work for me.? I simply need the date and place of marriage of Cornelius Collins and Ellen (Helen, Nellie) McCarthy (McCartie).? The friend I am helping with his Irish citizenship will order the record if I can find where and when the couple was married. I understand the Albany office has the indexes for the whole state except for NYC.? If they are not in the index, they were probably not married in NY State, as I cannot find them in the NYC records. First of all, Cohoes is a City. I don't know if they ever got around to appointing a new Historian. Write to Mayor John McDonald at City Hall. Death certificates sometimes give parents name, but not always. You might get the father's name, but the mother's maiden name is rarer for a death certificate. Obviously the people who would know are long dead. What religion were they? Where are they buried? Husband is most likely with wife.
