    1. [NYALBANY] Off Topic - Lovely Irish book
    2. Jennifer McNamara
    3. I recently read a lovely book about four generations of an Irish family living in Watervliet and Troy during the last century. Because of "Troy" in the title The Nightingales of Troy, this book caught my eye on the new fiction shelf at the library. I loved it so much I bought my own copy to reread and am giving copies as Christmas gifts to family. It's by a woman who grew up in Troy, and besides really beautiful writing about the character's lives, it has many descriptions of what the area looked like and felt like to the Irish living there going back to 1908. I typed alicefulton.com into Internet Explorer and learned that the book is based on the writer's family. Jennifer McNamara Chicago, IL ________________________________

    3. Try and contact the Town of Coeymans and find out who the Town Historian is would be a good start.  There may be persons In Coeymans Hollow that have information about things also. The Coeymans Hollow Methodist Church might also be a good contact to find out. Good Luck    Have the very best day possible.   Dick Peterson --- On Tue, 12/2/08, Robin Galage <rmgalage@msn.com> wrote: From: Robin Galage <rmgalage@msn.com> Subject: [NYALBANY] Coeymans church records To: NYALBANY@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 9:40 AM Does anyone know where I could find church records for the Coeymans area? 1. [NYALBANY] Elizabeth Pomeroy Anson Putman
    2. Robin Galage
    3. Looking for when Elizabeth Pomeroy Anson Putman died. She was born abt. 1860 probably in Greene or Ulster Co. as Elizabeth B. POMEROY. She married Jerry ANSON in the 1880s. They had two children: Laura in 1886 and Helen in 1889. Laura later married Edward VAN STEENBURGH of Haines Falls, Greene Co. NY. Jerry ANSON probably died bef. 1894 which is when she married someone by the name of PUTMAN. They are on the 1900 US Census for Coeymans, Albany Co NY. Unfortunately, Eliz. Husband's name is not very legible. It looks like Mineral PUTMAN. There was a Manuel PUTMAN that lived in Coeymans so it may be him. I don't seem to find her on any later census. Her granddaughter Helen Elizabeth Van Steenburgh was born in Coeymans in 1906 so she was probably still alive at that time. If anyone knows of Elizabeth, please contact me. Robin

    3. I find the New York Gravestones project at http://www.newyorkgravestones.org/ to be very useful, and I thank W. David Samuelsen for hosting the site. I have entered the all the stone information from the site for cemeteries in the Towns of Berne and Knox in the Berne Families Genealogy as well as most of the stones in the other Hilltowns, nearby Schoharie and Towns adjoining Berne that are below the hill. I also have entered genealogy information using transcriptions from the Dutch Settlers Society and other all other cemetery sources. I have transcriptions of many Westerlo Cemeteries that were compiled by former Westerlo Town Historian Thurston Bishop in 1990 and earlier. About half of the information has been entered into the Berne Families Genealogy and I will continue as time permits. If someone would like a lookup of a Westerlo ancestor, let me know. I will printout an ancestor report for individual in the Berne Families Genealogy posted on the Berne Historical Project web site at www.Bernehistory.org and email it to anyone who requests it.
