I've been trying to trace the Russell Asa Allen line, to see if there's a connection with my Allen line. Just wondering if you made any progress. Question. You list your lineage from Russell's son Asa, to Alva, to Edwin. I didn't know Alva had a son Edwin. Isn't Edwin Alva's brother? FYI: As I understand it, Lydia's 2nd husband was Augustus Demmon. Augustus's son from his first marriage, Charles, married Russell & Lydia's daughter Lucy. Lucy's grandaughter Bertha married Herbert Allen, whose grandparents were Alfred & Rachel, another Allen line I'm trying to trace. If you have any information on any of these lines, I'd appreciate a reply...Dennis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Facebook makes it easy to post various discussions to which people can respond. It allows for posting of permanent links. It allows a way to send one message to everyone in the group, as well as a way to send personal messages to people in the group. All public postings and exchanges are saved to the site so they are easily accesable and can be reviewed without having to search though files of previous messages. Everyone in the group as a profile that tells about them and their interests so any member of the group can look at anothers profile and see their interests and something about them. Even if there is a better program, it is too late. We have started with Facebook and are going to stick with it. We may allow people who do not want to use Facebook to still participate in the new Wikisite that is being created for the Hilltowns. More on that in a later post when the site is ready for public unveiling, hopefully with the week. 3. I've "rescued" an old marriage certificate belonging to Melvin WIGHTMAN and Sarah A. CORNELIUS both of Maryland, New York who were married on the 14th of Oct 1866 in Milford, NY. 1. [NYALBANY] Mary Coon / John H.Weatherwax of Albany county NY
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: LSCREP Surnames: Coon,Kuhn,Koon,Weatherwax,Wetherwax,Witherwax,Crouse,Livingston,Hood Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.albany/7658/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Mary Coon b: 5 Jan 1825, dau of John M. Coon (1794-1871) and wife Catherine Hood (1798-1874) married a John Weatherwax(Witherwax) sometime before 24 Aug 1850. In USC 1850 for Guilderland,Albany co NY. John M. Coon wife Catherine and children are living in fam #326, next family #327 same page is John Witherwax and wife Mary Coon. From this point on John and wife Mary consistently appear in Guilderland in USC 1850-1880. Then they disappear. Various online sources at Worldconnect indicate the marriage of this Mary Coon to John Witherwax (sp). Another source seems to have confused Mary Elizabeth Coon, daughter of Alexander Coon and Betsey Weatherwax for this couple. This family which moved to Orleans county NY and remained there is found in USC entries for the same USC entries for John Witherwax and Mary Coon of guilderland, thus proving they are not the same couple. In addition there are identifiable age differences. John Witherwax and Mary Coon had 3 known children 1. Anna Weatherwax (1856-1862) 2. John Henry Weatherwax (1862- ) marr: Eva Crouse 3. Charles J. Weatherwax (1864- ) marr: Sarah Livingston I have tracked these children and their marriages and offspring, however I cant seem to identify the parents of John H. Weatherwax b:c1831 in NY. I feel kind of silly not being able to identify the parents of John Weatherwax since I research all Weatherwax's, but the lack of vital records and inconsistent church records for the Weatherwax family along with the given name john preclude easy identification. Additionally like many Wetherwax family members John did use his middle name "H" Henry from time to time as a given name. I litterly have several hundred John Weatherwax's in my records. It would appear that he was born either in Albany or Rensselaer counties in NY, but possible in Schoharie,Schenectady of Saratoga as well. If anyone has any clues it would be appreciated. sincerely Wayne E. Weatherwax following david b:1747 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [NYALBANY] John Joseph Sweeney in Albany, NY - married Mary
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: sjdkwalsh Surnames: Sweeney, Walsh Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.albany/3684.1.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am rethinking my post about Mary Walsh being married to James Sweeney. I now believe she COULD have been married to your John Joseph Sweeney, but the dates don't quite line up. Just came across evidence from newspaper that a Hannah Shay (sister of Rev. John Walsh of Troy) was buried from the residence of Mrs. John Sweeney, No. 4 Dallius Street, Albany and St. John's church. This occurred on 8 Aug 1892. This is definite, then, that my Mary Walsh was married to a John Sweeney. Other newspaper article (obit of Rt. Rev. Mons. John Walsh) shows that Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Sweeney of Albany survived him (Nov. 1919). I'm thinking Mary's husband's name perhaps is really John Joseph Sweeney. My Mary Walsh was born in Ireland and have record of her coming over with family in Dec 1851 when Mary was 1 year old. Where did you get your birthdate of 1844 for Mary? My info about Joseph would put him alive in 1916, when your's died. Do you have his death certificate? Let me know if this jibes! with any of your info. Saw your post of 2 pics on Ancestry.com under John Joseph. Is that your Mary Sweeney? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
