    1. [NYALBANY] St Johns Lutheran Church
    2. Vonny
    3. Hi Barbara I have family that belonged to that church. The Emerich /Emerick family from Prussia who moved to Albany about 1860 Frederick and Caroline Emerich had a daughter Margaret who married Matthew Gill in Albany about 1864 probably at St Johns. They are both buried at St Johns Lutheran Church Sand Creek Road Albany. Margaret Emerick Gill died in May 1881 and Matthew Gill died March 1903 or 1904. They had a daughter (Martha) Elizabeth Gill who married Edward Gardinier, they are probably buried there too. Any information you can get me from your CD would be greatly recieved. Thanks for your kind offer Yvonne Mahar

    3. my great-great grandfather purchased lot #64 in 1885 to 1886 when paid off, making 2 installments of $10.00. The first burial wasn't until Oct 1892. I wonder if that was the old or new cemetery. I suppose that I would have to check the lot number the next time I am in Albany. The cd records have records back to 1857. 3. Hal, The modern spelling on maps and atlases is Helderberg, but it was Helderbergh in French's Gazetteer of the State of New York (1860). I agreed with Janet before I saw what she wrote. As a term, Helderberg is only recognized by local people, and not even by most of them. Based on the current name you have, another possibility would be AlbanyCountyHilltowns.com. However, Hilltowns is also only a local name, unknown elsewhere. Your focus is on "Albany County's Western Towns" (Western Albany County Towns), so one of those terms might be acceptable. 1. Re: [NYALBANY] Helderberg or Heldebergh
    2. I have always seen it spelled Helderberg. Will people still find it if it doesn't have Albany in the name? People searching for ancestors are likely to know the area is around Albany but few may know Helderberg. People who live out of state or even in other parts of New York are more likely to think of our Hilltown area as belonging to the Catskills or even the Adirondacks, but seldom will know the term Helderberg. 3. the cd is not nane indexed, I should have said when I offered, but is set up in "book numbers" by event and years. I would need names and a say 10 yr. time span in which to look for baptism, wedding, or funeral. If you can give me that, I will gladly look. 3. wonderful Barbara i am interested in the Schultz, Mohr, Melchior and Espenlaub families. Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated. How did you get this CD? My father's maternal grandfather, Rudolph Francis Melchior, either owned or operated a religious art store at 137 Central Ave. It is believed that he painted frescos in local churches although i never could prove this. My father's aunt Lotti (Charlotte Melchior) was maried to a Frank Mohr. My father's father's sister, Anna Kaufman, was married to Elmer J Espenlaub who was the son of William and Hanna (Schultz) Espenlaub. I am interested in any information on any of the surnames above. I have precious little on them thanks jim Barbara wrote: > I have a copy of the Record Books 1857-1946 of the above named Church on CD.
