    2. In looking through my computer for something else I ran across the article below which may be of some help to your search. Good luck. Janet Haseley, Research Chair, Rensselaerville Historical Society Date: 9/1/2000 From: smilbert@capital.net (Shirley Milbert) To find a marriage in 1854 in Albany try going to _www.nysl.nysed.gov_ (http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/) under research library, pick New York State newspaper project, then ny state newspaper microfilm, select state library or around New York, select Albany and list of newspapers will come up for years available. Note: check procedure for getting them sent to your library Subj: [NYALBANY] Newspaper-Abstracts list Date: 9/9/2000 From: GSubyak@aol.com Hello all Subscribers Please allow me introduce myself to you. I am Glenda Subyak, I am coordinator for the New York State & Monroe Co. Newspaper-Abstracts list. I live in Rochester, Monroe Co., N.Y. I have been submitting my county newspaper to the list for about a year. Many people have e-mailed me about finding a lost grandfather – etc. in the newspaper articles that I have submitted as we all are after one goal, find our ancestors, right!!!!!!! Can I invite all (some) of you to submit one - two or as many newspaper articles, from your own county collection of newspapers. Maybe even volunteer to be coordinator for your county. Let’s see if we can get every county on the map of N. Y. to have been filled in submitting some articles - obits - birth - marriages - any articles. Just make copies from old newspapers from film 1800's up to 1922 transcribe them & submit them to the site - very easy. Your county has NO submissions listed yet (other than the one I submitted). Please be the first to submit something, none too small, none too large. You can check out my submissions, from this URL http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/ny/monroe.html The Newspaper-Abstracts site is http://www.newspaperabstracts.com In a message dated 2/26/2009 9:54:12 P.M. 1. Re: [NYALBANY] Newspapers covering Rensselaerville?
    2. There was one newspaper in Rensselaerville which was published during the 1870s for about 8 years. It was called the Rensselaerville Press. You may be able to find microfilm copies at a reference or archives area of a library because the copies that the Rensselaerville Historical Society has were microfilmed several years ago when there was a State project to microfilm newspapers. It was called the Newspaper Project or something like that. Ask at the NY State Library archives or reference dept. Our copies are extremely fragile and stored in acid-free newspaper-size boxes but not easily accessed as it would require handling each page and we really are reluctant to have visitors do that. Since they are not indexed either, your best option would be to see microfilm copies at a library. It is possible that archives or reference folks at the State Library would be able to help you further as they should have microfilms of all the newspapers in the state from that project. 1. [NYALBANY] St Joseph Church lookup
    2. Frank
    3. I have been searching for the birth/baptismal record of my grandmother for years without success. I lack the exact year of her birth/baptism and am hopeful the baptismal record might reveal the maiden name of her mother. I have utilized all of the conventional methods - internet genealogy groups, proprietary genealogy searches, the Albany City and County Clerks Offices and the Mormon LDS Family History Center without success. Both parents were listed as immigrants from Ireland in the U.S. and New York State census reports The ancestor I seek is Ellen (Helen) Celelia Denn born April 1865, 1866 or 1867 - (based upon ages given on different census records and her marriage record). I believe 1866 to be the most probable year and have been informed that St Joseph's Church may have been the parish her family attended. Her parents were William Denn died 1/5/1906 and Mary ------? Denn died Albany 8/13/1880 Any assistance you might be able to render would be deeply appreciated. Frank

    1. Re: [NYALBANY] NYALBANY Digest, Vol 4, Issue 50
    2. I am in need of a lookup, as well. I have contacted St. Joseph's in the past, but they were not particularly helpful. No one actually did a lookup. I would be extremely grateful if someone could do so. I am searching for a birth or Roman Catholic baptism for MARY ANN KENNEDY, born 3 Nov, 1853, most likely in St. Joseph's parish. Her parents were Patrick (?) and Catherine Teef(e)y Kennedy, both Irish immigrants. Catherine came most likely from the Birdhill region of County Tipperary. It is probable that the couple came to the US already married, but it is also possible that they met here. In that case, there might be a marriage on record, as well. It is possible they may have lived close to Schenectady at one time. Patrick died some time between 1853 and 1860, because by the latter date, Catherine was in Chicago married to John Maher (Meagher). She went on to have several more children with him, and she died in 1912 in Chicago. I have found no record of Patrick's death. Mary Ann was my great-grandmother, and she married Michael Dalton in Chicago and has seven children. Thanks, Kathy **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps! 2. Hi You Don't don't need priest to run a good parish, only a good administrator! In the early 1800's there was only three Jesuit Priest that covered on a horse from above New York City to Plattsburg. The People ran the church and the priest did only the sacraments. The days of 3 and 4 priest in a parish, that we all remember from the 1940's to 1970's is the thing of the past. They need younger blood, and someone who is a good CEO ,the church has way to many people working way past retirement years. We have all work with people that did great things in their day, but sometimes their day has past and they need to move on. So if I offended you then I'm sorry but the truth is never kind. **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
