    3. stones badly that are badly damaged / illegible are replaced. some stones need to be raised, leveled and reset. stones that need cleaning are cleaned following the Association for Gravestone Studies best practices, using clean water, nylon brushes, and D2 biological solution to remove lichens and inhibit their re-growth. chipped and broken stones that can be repaired are epoxied and mortared using materials approved for use on historic marble. Historic St Agnes holds a stone cleaning work shop each Wednesday morning (no charge).
